Call for Artists – CAn Artists In Residence – Paid Positions

Thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Community Artists Niagara can fund eight artists to be Artists in Residence, for a period of one month per artist.

We are therefore calling for proposals for persons who want to create art, music or written works in public, in CAn’s Queen St gallery.

The Artist in Residence will be paid $25/hr for 6 hours a week for a total of $125/week and $500 per month. When working you will also talk to the public, explain what you are doing and answer questions. You may propose to demonstrate your art form, perform, teach or hold workshops, but you must also be actively creating something during your time as Artist in Residence. Your completed work may be exhibited by CAn in an Artists in Residence special exhibit. If you sell the completed work, CAn requests a 20% commission.

Send CAn a proposal including:

1. Your short biography with a description of your work, providing digital images of samples of your work.

2. What you propose to do. Your proposal must involve your actually creating something, but you may also propose to do public demonstrations, workshops, perform or teach
during your time?

3.  What hours and which days of the week do you propose to be at the Gallery (6 hours per week.). Which month do you prefer to work?

4.  How do you propose to ensure public safety if you will work with dangerous materials?

Limitations:

You must bring your own supplies and keep your exhibit area presentable for the public. We will supply the venue and the media/pubic exposure.
